Pokemon for Japan
Ok. So. First off, I promise this isn't spam. K, Clarke? OK?? :p
Some guys at my uni are doing a....4 day pokemon marathon in aid of the Japan Tsunami appeal, and they're live streaming it. Donating, appart from the obvious, means you can set down some rules for them to play by such as "magikarp isn't allowed to evolve til lvl40" or "the next thing you catch shall be called "blank" and also what pokemon should be in their team, or what skills they should teach them. Theres a chat underneath and so far it's been quite amusing. They're on their 2nd day as I write this, makin their way through Crystal, with Red being finished sometime this morning. So far they've raised £1,632.88 (or, if you include giftaid £1,883.50 ) And somehow, along the way managed to catch all thee legendary birds in Red, with a Magikarp named "Zeus G.O.S" (God of Splash).
Facebook page (with pictures and videos of the various things people have donated and told them to do/tasks to complete-"slap the person next to you...?")

Re: Pokemon for Japan
In the end guys, we raised £3,411.78 - but if you count the Giftaid (which is like red cross reclaiming tax from the goverment) it comes to £3,938.42
over half a million yen!!! (533,923)
From monday you can download the gamesaves from the Red, Yellow and Crystal play throughs- Only got to Fuschia Gym in Yellow because we hit 96 hours of near continuous play.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTdBwlE5VtU There are strange videos like this, though, when people donated and asked they sing songs.
perhaps Glitch could get involved somehow next time? Who knows. Get in touch with Ben, Alice, Kelly, Josh or Phill with their contacts on www.pokemon4life.co.uk
I Belive the Aber comunity of gamers (ACOG) will be supporting the next marathon.
Stay moist, everybody :p
