Welcome to CGS
Hello fellow gamers, tis your admin DonWeir here. Just wanted to wish you all a big hello and to encourage you to post often and join in on weekly gamning sessions.
Just as a bit of an icebreaker, post a little about yourself and your gaming genre of preference.
To start us off I'll go first.
My real name in Clarke Weir, I'm a first year Computing(with game design) student.
My gaming genre preference would have to be RPG.
Well that's all from me for now. hopefully I'll see you around the forum.

Ok, looks like I'm up next, well my real name is Stuart McLain, I am a first year film studies and photo-imaging student.
Genre preference is RTS and RPG, yeah I know thats two but it's impossible to choose. Outside of computer games I enjoy playing table top wargames, such as 40k, Warhammer and Warmachine.
I guess that is it from me. For now...

"I am he as you are he and you are me and we are all together..."
I'm Dave, and surprisingly not that big a Beatles fan.
Most of you probably wont know me, I was at the AGM and a few meetings before hand, but I want to get a bit more involved with the society now you're trying to bring Tabletop and Development a bit more into the fold.
I'm an IFY Computing student (read: my brain doesn't work properly) and will be moving on to the full Computing with Games Development course next year.
I love RPGs: From Zork to Dragon Age: you name it, I've probably played it. Other than that, I'm pretty much willing to play any game (so long as it's not Final Fantasy).
Hopefully I'll see you all a lot more over the coming months up in the SCR!

Re: Welcome to CGS
Hello all.
I've just finished a PhD in serious games at UUC so I'm not sure how much I'm going to be around, but you never know!
I don't really have a specific favourite type of game. Like some open world stuff (mainly Bethesda stuff like The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout 3 - Oblivion & Morrowind are easily two of my favourite games of all-time), FPS's (though I suck at them), platform, racing, footy, casual/arcade games, retro (ZX Spectrum ftw), point & click, etc etc.
PS. Congrats to all that took part in the 36 hour thing - looked like fun from the Twitter pics!

Yeah, it was so much fun; but by the end of it we could not properly function. Tiredness overtook normal speech and motor controls.
It gets extremely cold in there at night.
Next time we should bring pop-up tents.
I take it you're excited for the new Oblivion game to come out Burkazoid?
I'm kind of worried that it'll take over my life again when we get it though...

Yeah, can't wait for Skyrim. Been watching every single video and documentary and bit of info that has been released with much anticipation. I intend on booking some time off when it gets released

Yeah, you get so into games like that - it's dangerous!
I remember my brother insisted on doing something on one of my Oblivion profiles and managed to turn me into a vampire...
It was not normal how annoyed I was at him.
Now I have an innate hatred and fear of vampires in Oblivion. When I see them I scream and run.

Haha, I think I contracted vampirism in it once too, but took the easy route out of just loading a previous save

I didn't have that option, brother owns Xbox and decides I'm not allowed to waste any more memory than necessary...

Re: Welcome to CGS
Well, as the newest member I'll go next.
I'm Zakk and I'm a first year English student, with a little sprinking of Film. I'm a journalist by trade and write for various online publications as well as running my own site.
As far as games go I'm quite varied, but my skills lie in Rhythm games and I'm pretty damn nifty with a football game. However, I've probably sunk more time into RPG's (specifically JRPG's) than any other. It still annoys me that I've never beaten Weapon, but I just can't bring myself to try that hard.
You'll definitely see me about, that tall guy with the hair and the band t-shirt pretty much covers my image, and I like to get involved in all the facets of gaming including the RPG and card game elements.

Do you think it would be beneficial to wear name tags on Tuesday in an effort to learn people's names quicker?
It could include people's online names in brackets to help familiarise us to each other?
Plus we could easily use excess name stickers to put 'Kick Me!' signs on people.

Re: Welcome to CGS
Petrus here, just learned of the Coleraine Gamers! Where have you been, guys?!
Anyways, I'll attend as much as possible, when I'm not trying to study, spending some occasional time with pints (this could be also done in a group, not just gaming - or usually, as it was meant to be done, doing both with people simultaneously) or at the piano in octagon balcony.
Prefered games would include Vampire the Eternal Struggle, almost any kind of board games (Small World and Battlestar Galactica are worth checking), and... well, things where there are people included.
Gaming alone is alright, but... does get a bit lonesome at times.
Warhammer for 11 years now, a history with MtG as much that I know the rules, we played Warcry when it was on... Stuff like that. For the past 2 years I've organised more than I've played actually, so gaming skills might be a bit rusty.
So there!
